5WPR – Why you should have a Google verified profile

So it’s widely known that Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt is very outspoken and his “talk first, think later” approach has proven to have the media hang on to every single word he says.

The Wall Street Journal has obtained some excerpts from Schmidt’s upcoming book, “The New Digital Age.” The book identifies a clear direction of where Google’s future is: “Within search results, information tied to verified online profiles will be ranked higher than content without such verification, which will result in most users naturally clicking on the top (verified) results. The true cost of remaining anonymous, then, might be irrelevance.”

Back in 2011 when Google introduced authorship markup, they did say that they were “”looking closely at ways this markup could help us highlight authors and rank search results.”Schmidt confirms this in his book that in the future you can boost your rankings by using Google authorship and that Google+ has been created to help facilitate a way to verify authors.

He also confirms that privacy will cease to exist online and that Governments in general will find it “too risky” to have citizens remain “anonymous, untraceable and unverified” online. Schmidt also suggests that technology companies will start investing in bigger and stronger legal departments to help litigate the lawsuits that will arise out of intellectual property theft.

The book is due out in April and is co-written by Google ideas chief, Jared Cohen. There’s no doubt that Google fanatics obsesses or otherwise will buy it. One thing is for sure – Google will continue to challenge and evolve.
